Artistic Pursuits Book 2 Grd K-3 Stories Of Artists & Their Art

Artistic Pursuits is a comprehensive art program designed to involve the student in the creative process while developing observational skills. Books offer a complete overview and easy to understand introduction to the subject of art. Each book includes a set of fine art prints by the masters to aid students in understanding concepts introduced. Books are written to the student and require little or no teacher preparation. This book continues the story of art history from the late Gothic period, through the Renaissance, to the 18th century art academies of Europe. Each of the 17 units tell a fictional story of an artist's childhood, using known facts while placing in student's minds the primary character of each artist and his/her work. Students examine an artwork by that artist in a fine art print and learn to observe by answering questions. Then students use the concepts to create original works of art. 34 projects are included, encouraging students to express their ideas and observations. Students, grades K-3, will add print-making, paper-mache, and new drawing and painting media to their skills.
