3D Art and Sculpture
Sculpture is a course for students who enjoy working with clay, plaster, wood, wire, and mixed media. Students create freestanding, hand-made pieces using sculptural techniques such as coil building, form molding and carving to develop three-dimensional artwork. They consider volume, weight, color, form, and texture while creating contemporary pieces. The course concentrates on developing technical skills and artistic appreciation of successful three-dimensional artwork. Studio projects will be tied to discussion of art historical topics and/or uses of art in modern societies. Students will use a variety of methods, including assemblage, casting, carving, and modeling. Creativity, craftsmanship, critical thinking, and sketchbook assignments are all part of 3D Art/Sculptor process.
Supplies Needed: Notebook, Pencil, Sharpie Marker, Folder
Class Time: 1 ½ hours. This is a two 16-week semester, 8-month class.
