Writing & Language Arts - Grades 7-9: Nancy Brown
This yearlong class, which meets 14 weeks each in fall and spring will cover vocabulary, literature, creative and expository writing, focusing on strong sentence and paragraph skills. We will use Vocabulary from Classical Roots, Book 6, and Write Source Grade 7, Handbook. The Instructor will be sharing her collection of classical literature for the students to use in the classroom.
Class Time: 1 1/2 hours. This is a two 16-week semester, class totaling 32 weeks.
Biography:
Nancy Brown graduated from UTA with a BA in Speech/Communications and Marketing and a minor in English. She homeschooled her children for 13 years in the Houston area while running a homeschool co-op and teaching classes at Alvin Community College. Nancy taught classes in Speech, Advanced Speech, Honors English and a variety of writing and language arts at the elementary, middle school and high school level at the Home Education Partnership of Texas in Houston from 1999-2008, when she relocated with her husband to Dallas, Texas.
