Chemistry With Lab: Julianne Grove

 
This course is designed to be a first-year high school chemistry course and gives the student a rigorous foundation in chemistry, in order to prepare him or her for a college-level course. The course covers significant figures, units, classification, the mole concept, stoichiometry, thermochemistry, thermodynamics, kinetics, acids and bases, redox reactions, solutions, atomic structure, Lewis structures, molecular geometry, the gas laws, and equilibrium. Students who take and understand this course will be very well-prepared for a tough university chemistry course.
 
Pre-requisite: Algebra 1

Class Time: 2 hours
This is a two 16week-semester course totaling 8 months or 64 hours of class time! That is less than $10 per class hour!
 
Teacher Biography:
 
Julianne Grove graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. in Microbiology from Texas A&M University. In her senior year she participated in the Fellows program which includes independent research under the supervision of one or more research professors. While at A&M she also worked as a research assistant in one of the biochemistry labs. Upon graduation, Julie worked as a research assistant at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, until she married and subsequently moved to Ft. Worth where she began her family. Julie has taught and tutored high school Chemistry for the past seven years.

Julie’s husband is an engineer at Lockheed Martin and they have been married for 25 years. They have homeschooled all four children from kindergarten through high school. Their oldest daughter attended Oklahoma University as a dance major before joining Ballet Magnificat; she now travels worldwide with the Alpha company. Their second daughter graduated from UNT as a double major in English and International Studies with a minor in Arabic; she is currently participating in a discipleship training school in Cyprus. Their oldest son is a junior at UTA studying Aerospace Engineering, and their second son is a high school senior.

Julie brings to the Center a wealth of knowledge and experience coupled with her love for teaching science.
