Check into the Foundation Station and set off on an enjoyable and interactive learning experience. This 2 1/2 hour class will meet twice a week for 32 weeks and cover the foundational skills of reading, writing and math through active learning with peers. Children will enjoy exposure to music, art, science and social studies through creative hands on activities and games. Select themes will direct this learning bringing continuity to the classroom experience and opportunities to engage children with all learning styles.
Foundation Station will follow a Charlotte Mason/classical philosophy of education. A variety of reading and writing activities including Readers Theatre Skits and Storytelling will serve to develop communication skills both oral and written. Math skills will be developed using innovative games and activities combined with lessons from the Horizons Math Curriculum.
At home assignments will include: a reading log, math worksheets/ student workbook, and language arts activities.
Students will complete at home assignments to make this class a comprehensive course.
