Creative Writing, The Lost Art:
While many students have been exposed to the technical requirements of the writing process few have embraced or mastered the craft. When we give them the rules without the tools they become frustrated and unmotivated. This workshop will equip you with practical strategies to inspire and develop the writer in your child. Rosie will explore answers to the questions: How do children learn to write? And more importantly, how do children learn to love to write? You will leave equipped with creative ideas for bringing writing to the forefront of the learning experience.
Help! I've Fallen, and I Can't Get Up!
Balancing the role of teacher, mom, and wife can become one of the home school mom's greatest challenges. Rosie Watson, home school mom of 20 years, brings practical advice, encouragement, and restoration to help you nurture and develop those most valued relationships.
The Role of the ARTS in Education:
The study of music, art, drama, and dance are often an 'add on' to an already full curriculum. In this workshop, Rosie will explore the true value of these subjects, and the role that imagination and creative expression play in educating the whole child.
Homeschooling Highschool:
Homeschooling the high-school student brings new opportunities and challenges to the homeschool family. Teaching the 'difficult' subjects, providing positive social interaction combined with the pressure of college applications and transcripts can be daunting. Rosie Watson, mother of three homeschooled students, now in University, will bring encouragement, direction and practical advice to those facing the final years.
Breathing Life into Language Arts:
Language Arts is a critical part of any student's education and yet working through spelling, vocabulary, grammar, writing, reading comprehension, critical thinking and character development can consume mountains of time and energy. In this workshop, Rosie will discuss how these subjects can be combined and brought to life through the study of great literature, while developing your students ability to think, reason and communicate. Grades 3-12.
Lessons needed for the Transcripts of Life:
The greatest lessons our children need to learn are at risk of being lost as the pressures and demands of our culture play havoc on our families. The attitude of entitlement dominates and parents are lured into the role of serving their children rather than teaching them to serve. Raised in a third world country, Rosie brings fresh insight into safeguarding the future of the next generation. Don't miss this thought-provoking, life-changing workshop.
Speech and Debate: Turning ordinary students into world changers
Want to bring new life to your homeschool journey? Introduce your students to the world of competitive speech and debate and discover an exciting way to develop their critical thinking and communication skills in a fun and challenging environment. This journey through the art of rhetoric helps to develop articulate, interesting individuals who know how to defend what they believe. The added element of competition and performance serves to raise the bar, providing the incentive students need to give their best.
This workshop will feature top-notch presentations from award winning homeschool competitors.
