Consumer Math will help your student develop the knowledge and skills they need to successfully handle their personal finances. This class will cover such things as banking with checking and savings accounts; buying, insuring, and maintaining a car; creating and balancing a budget; renting or buying a home; buying food and clothing; tax forms; investments; and how to read a paycheck. These principles will give your students sound, Biblical views for managing their money.

We will take the time in this class to see how the math they've been learning is applied to real life situations they will actually encounter. We will focus on improving basic math skills as well as learning the principles that every adult should understand about financial planning for success.

Students should have taken Algebra 1 but don't worry if math isn't your favorite class. This class will teach you how to do the necessary math in life with a calculator and a back to basics approach! There will be 2-3 hours of homework a week that will include a math assignment and then some other form of learning such as watching a video, taking a survey, doing some research, completing projects, or starting family discussions.

A spiral notebook and pencils to take notes

A 3-ring binder to keep handouts and homework organized
