Exploring America Part 2, Late 1800’s to Present, taught by Beth Roberts, will discuss the economic

development, social issues and political landscape of America starting with the Gilded Age and the Rise

of Industrial Power. Students will discuss their ethnic heritage and how it is related to the immigration surge from Europe that created ethnic diversity in America. Students will engage in group activities examining how the limited government intervention created debilitating consequences in the future in America that lead to War, devastation,

and later reform.

  • Students will bring something antique or opulent to class, and describe the practical reasons for the

  • Create a new industrial invention using coal, steel production or railroads that could possibly revitalize

these dying industries and/or a genealogy report of where their past kinship came from during the

economic development of the 1800’s.

the future possible consequences if not monitored.
