We will be using the Simply Good and Beautiful Math 5 Course Set (goodandbeautiful.com, $58.97) which includes the Math 5 Course Book, an answer key, Math 5 Mental Math Map Mysteries, and access to the Math 5 videos.

This curriculum uses a spiral approach so most lessons consist of:

• A video lesson providing detailed teaching and interactive guided practice of the lesson topic

• A mini-lesson, a concise written lesson on the topic

• Practice dedicated to the lesson topic

• Daily review of topics from previous lessons

Most lesson topics will be introduced in class, and initial group and individual practice provided. Some class time will be used for teamwork and hands-on activities. Most lesson pages will be assigned as homework. On average, students will need 20-25 minutes, 4 days per week, to complete each week’s assignment. A parent will need to check the student’s at-home work and provide immediate help and feedback.
