We will be using the Simply Good and Beautiful Math 6 Course Set (goodandbeautiful.com, $69.97) which includes the 2-part Math 6 course book, an answer key, and access to the Math 6 videos.
This curriculum uses a spiral approach to consistently review prior concepts, so most lessons consist of:
Warm-Up, an activity that applies to the lesson topic
Video Lesson, providing detailed teaching and interactive guided practice of the lesson topic
Mental Math Checkup, to quickly review mental math skills and facts practice
Mini Lesson, a concise written lesson on the topic
Practice, dedicated to the lesson topic
Review, to solidify topics from previous lessons
Most lesson topics will be introduced in class, and initial group and individual practice provided. Some class time will be used for teamwork and hands-on activities. Most lesson pages will be assigned as homework. On average, students will need 20-30 minutes, 4 days per week, to complete each week’s assignment. A parent will need to check the student’s at-home work and provide immediate help and feedback.
Students will also need:
Pencils
Highlighter
Colored pencils or markers or crayons
Ruler
2 (standard) dice
Protractor
Folder with pocket and brads
