In this class, we will learn the fundamentals of crochet. The students will learn to read a pattern, how to choose the right yarn for a project, understand gauge, and basic stitches. We will make several projects including a washcloth and a beanie. Students will need to purchase an “I” crochet hook. This class will have the students “hooked.”

Required Materials:
“I” crochet hook (5.5 mm)

acrylic yarn in two or more colors - Red Heart Super Saver is $3.69 at Michael’s and is adequate. If you want something softer, Red Heart Soft is $3.79 at Michael’s. You don’t have to use this brand, but it gives you an idea of what to look for, and it’s inexpensive. Please don’t bring anything fluffy or textured, as it will be hard to work with.

cotton yarn - Lily Sugar ‘n Cream is $1.99 for 2.5 oz. at Michael’s; Peaches & Cream is only $1.77 for 2.5 oz. at Walmart. One ball is fine. Please get solid, lighter colors, as dark or patterned ones can be difficult to see the stitches. Any yarn you use for this class should have this symbol on the wrapper -

measuring tape
1/2” binder or 3-prong folder
notebook paper
pencil or pen
