*For class, the students need a keyboard that is portable. I would just get something inexpensive for class, and have a nicer instrument at home to practice on. In class, it is helpful if the keyboard can function without being plugged in (batteries). A shorter keyboard with full size keys is probably best, as the miniature keys tend to be a hindrance. Headphones to plug into the keyboard are helpful in class though we don't use them all the time. Ideally, students would have access to something with full size and fully weighted keys for practice outside of class.
