Writing Workshop (6th-9th)
Teacher: Mrs. Rachel Sutton
Thursday
11:30-1:00
Description
This class is designed to help your student become a better writer! Between the ages of 11 and 14, many students need some extra support and encouragement to find and improve their writing skills.
We invite your students to bring their writing assignments from home or other classes to receive teacher input and coaching on steps to improve their writings. Is your student having a difficult time getting their thoughts down on paper? Part of this class will be spent helping reluctant writers find their voice in writing. Various styles and methods will be explored as ways to familiarize your students with different types of writing.

Students who do not need help with improving works from other classes will gain valuable classroom practice in writing to prompts, proofreading for accuracy, and correcting their mistakes. Sentence construction, developing paragraphs, and writing essays will be the focus of part of this course. Spelling and grammar instruction and practice will be a regular component of this class. The goal is to facilitate an atmosphere where your students can feel comfortable to bring their skill level, regardless of age or experience, and show progressive advancement by December. Then again, to show further progress from January until May.
